Self Portrait
Media: Pencil
The project for this was a simple self portrait from an overwhelming picture taken inches from my face. Although I enjoyed being in my comfort zone I quickly began to struggle as I drew what I thought I looked like instead of what was on the picture. |

The butterfly represents change, metamorphosis, and hidden inner beauty with this in mind I decided to make my concentration represent the butterfly. In all of my pieces I used ink with a watercolor background because it reminds me of the simplicity of the butterfly, but also the softness and elasticity that the watercolor provides for the overall piece. My inspiration came from an album by Kendrick Lamar titled “To pimp a butterfly” even though I didn't “pimp” the butterflies I used the same butterflies as a mere reflection of society and and how we are enclosed inside “These walls”.
